We stayed here for two weeks in July & August 2008. This hotel is in an outstanding location, overlooking the Bay of Naples. It’s very modern and very tranquil. The standard rooms are smallish, but certainly comfortable. The pool area is compact, but very attractive and with a tremendous view. It probably isn’t the place to take a young family in that respect, but during our visit a good few children came and went with their parents and they semed happy enough – there are beaches in easy reach. The train station is a five minute walk (one of us was seven months pregnant at this point, and still managed it perfectly easily). From there, it’s fewer than 10 minutes to Sorrento, about 30 to Pompeii and longer to Herculaneum and Naples. The last bus from Sorrento leaves from the train station forecourt at midnight and stops close to the hotel. Seiano itself has a small grocers, a couple of bars, a post office and a hire car office, amongst one or two other things. There’s also a much bigger hotel (The Grand Moon Valley). You may want to go out to eat – the hotel restaurant is a wonderful, gourmet experience, but 5-8 courses a night isn’t great for the BMI. Vico has a few good options – cheapish and a reasonable (or better) standard of food. Sorrento is obviously packed with choices. The service at the Angiolieri, we found, was exemplary – professional, courteous and friendly. The desk staff, Simona, Gemma and Massimo were especially helpful and the people in the Restaurant cheerful, obliging and knowledgable. Perhaps the best thing about the Angiolieri, when all’s said and done, is its atmosphere – we wanted to relax most of the time, and visit places occasionally – the hotel was perfect for that. In short, what else we could have asked for, is all but impossible to say – the Angiolieri is thoroughly recommended!
