We’ ve stayed for 12 nights at the Grand Hotel Angiolieri – it definetely is the perfect choice for a stay at the gulf of Naples! Situated absolutely pittoresque and quiet with a unique view over the sea to Naples, the Vesuv and (to the back) monte Faito and Vico Equense you can visit all interesting places like Naples, Herculaneum, Pompei, Sorrent by train (a walk of approx. 5-10 minutes, ticktes at the reception!) or by boat (a nice walk of approx. 15 minutes, daily boats to Capri, Naples, Sorrent, Amalfi & Positano). The hotel also has a garage, but driving in Italy is no fun, so we preferred trains, boats and busses which run from early morning until late at night very much on time.
Opened in 2006 the Angiolieri is in perfect shape, the rooms and bathrooms are modern, with all you ever expect in a 5-star hotel. Very quite rooms, you don´t hear anything (very important to us)…and can sleep with open window. Nice, modern interior, much wood and marble.
Great panorama terrace for breakfast ….and a breakfast buffet we have never had so far in Italy: great variety of fresh exotic and italian fruits, cakes, croissants, local cheese and ham, cereals, yoghurts, juices. We never had something like this before in Italy where – also in 5 star hotels – breakfast often is something you can´t really enjoy.
Excellent service, housekeeping, turning-down-service in the evening. Very professional & friendly reception team (Massimo, Gemma, Simona) – fluently in English and partly also German – which makes you feel comfortable the fist moment you walk in. Our plane was late and we arrived at the hotel by midnight…but we rarely had a warmer welcome ever before (exceptional: Massimo). If there is a small problem (the “switch off” of our air condition was defect, late in the evening) it´s been solved within a view minutes!!
